TODAY

Ø It is possible again to sign up for our small Lenten REFLECTION GROUPS by specifying the best time of the week for you on one of the beige cards and returning to back of Church or one of the priests.

Ø Lenten “A Holy Nation” MEDITATION BOOKS and Prayer Cards for daily Lenten meditation, available from newspaper rack, or back of Church

LENT
ASH WEDNESDAY is this Wednesday. For able-bodied adults it is a day of fasting (at most one main meal & two snacks) and abstinence (no meat).

Masses will be celebrated at 9.30am, 12noon and 7pm, and ashes will be blessed & distributed. Please note Ashes can only be distributed at Mass, not at any other time.

FORMAL ACTIVITIES

· Reflection groups: a chance to reflect & share upon the Sunday readings To sign up see above. Groups will use the “Holy Nation” books, see above.

· Communal Morning Prayer at 7:45am on weekdays and 8:15am weekends.

· Divine Mercy Holy Hour on Fridays 3 pm – 4 pm.

· Stations of the Cross each Friday evening at 7 pm

INFORMAL ACTIVITIES

-- LENTEN ALMS monies placed in the box opposite the Lady Altar will go towards Aid to the Church in Need. This charity supports those Christians persecuted for their faith, from those in Sudan through sisters in China to seminarians in Eastern Europe, from distributing children’s bibles to building churches.

-- FAMILY FAST DAY on Fri 2nd March in aid of Aid to the Church in Need.

-- SPIRITUAL READING check out our new parish library in the Annexe. See front of newletter. Cf. also the ‘Holy Nation’ diocesan daily reflection books.

TALK ON SELF-DENIAL BY Fransican Brother Martin. Faith in Focus Spring talks- Mon 19th Feb at 7pm, St Vincent’s centre, Carlisle Pl, Victoria. Please see poster for future schedule.

Change of date: MEETING FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN IN YEAR 4 & 5 who are interested in helping to set up some form of club for these youngsters, possibly on a Fri eve, building up upon last term’s Drama Club, Friday 2nd March, 6:15 p.m.–7:15 pm Church Annexe.

1ST HOLY COMMUNION PREPARATION – Parents Meeting Tuesday 6th March (Parents only). Next children’s session Thursday 8th March. Due to recently cancelled session there will be an extra evening on Thursday 22nd March.
