TODAY
We have our annual collection for the Catholic Children’s Society see poster on porch wall.

NEW PARISHIONERS, especially those who have joined our community in the last two yrs are invited for a coffee after the 10:30 am Mass (i.e. 11:15)

AT THE BACK
 Blue Cards for signing up for “Sharing his Life” reflection groups which start this week.

 “Sharing His Life” diocesan reflection books – green&white for daily reflection starting today Oct, and for use in reflection groups (see below). Price £1 from newspaper rack.

 Red leaflets explaining the recent child Protection Church Cumberledge report.


ANNEXE LIBRARY: NEW BOOKS including in the parenting section, three brand new books, one for mothers, one for fathers and on family activities for the liturgical year. Also on bottom shelf some excellent books for children.
N.B. Children making more noise than their fair share can be taken in there, where they can see the books and adults can listen to the Mass.

1ST COMMUNION ENROLMENT 2008Parents of children in Year Three or above who would like them to receive First Holy communion in 2008 should now contact Clergy Ho to arrange for a family meeting with Mrs Celia Edwards our coordinator. Forms for this can collected from back. For those in Year 3 and 4 forms are light yellow with a white letter on top. For those in Year 5 and above (“post-Year 4”) forms are orange.


Those of the above who are attending Non-Catholic Schools- Please contact Clergy Ho with contact details to enrol in a 6 week course commencing on Tues 30th Oct at 5.00pm. The child would then join the main programme in January.


SECONDARY SCHOOL TRANSFER Sept 08: DEADLINE THIS TUESDAY
The last interview session for schools in local boroughs is THIS TUESDAY. It will not be possible to sign forms after this. Please phone for a slot.

AUTUMN REFLECTION GROUPS reflecting upon the Pope’s recent letter of the Mass will start this Tues or Wed eve.s for 6 wks. It is still possible to sign up on blue cards.

POST-CONFIRMATION YOUTH GROUP (Y9-13) This Sat (20th) will be a social, relaxing at the Infant convent chapel in Park Ave. 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 pm ish. Lifts home available.

RETREAT DAY FOR LEADERS : 27th October Still places available for this inspiring and important day. Let Fr Hugh know if you’d like to come, with the v. insightful director of Birmingham’s Maryvale.

NOVEMBER EVENTS

LOSING STRESS? On 1st Thurs of month, from 1st Nov, 7:30 pm we hope to have a retreat eve. looking at how to use meditation exercises to live a more peaceful life. More info next wk.

CHILD PROTECTION: The Catholic Church is committed to providing a safe environment for children & vulnerable adults. We are entitled to have that peace of mind in knowing they are cared for and loved by the Christian community. To this end, on behalf o the diocese, Baroness Cumberledge has now produced a review report. See red leaflet summary at back.

LEADERS: There will be an important information evening for all working with children and vulnerable adults in the parish on Tuesday 13th November at 7pm or Thursday 6th December.

PARISH COURSE: “Five Golden Threads of the Catechism”. An excellent course explaining the key strands of our Catholic Faith, here in the parish, third Saturday of the month, 2pm -3:30, open to all, but especially important for those in our parish giving or hoping to give Catechesis. Dates are: 17 Nov; 15 Dec; 19 Jan; 16 Feb; 15 March.

KNIGHTS OF SAINT COLUMBA Dinner & Dance. This popular event takes place 17th Nov at the Mazenod Centre, Quex Rd NW6. A 5-course meal of Christmas fare, dancing to midnight. £26.00 per person. For tickets call Michael 0208-451 3103 or Tom 0208 451 2243 or see anyone in KSC.


Race Night The great fun recent Race Night raised almost £3,000. A big thank you to all who sponsored horses, bought them or placed bets on the night-& to the Rising Sun Manager.

Many thanks to children in St Mary Magdalen’s Junior school who fasted from their Ice Pops on Harvest Fast day and donated the cost towards the people of Zimbabwe. £46.90 raised.

Mellie Mulvihill and family wish to thank all who attended John’s funeral. Thanks to all who supported the McMillan Fund that raised £792.00. Mass will be offered for your intentions.
