Week of 27th April 2008
TODAY
• We take up our annual WEEF collection towards the cost of our seminaries for the training of priests.

• Cricklewood Homeless- collection this weekend of all non perishable foods a

• 10:30 Mass will involve the 1st Communion Rite of Acceptance.

• 6:30 pm will involve Rite of Election for Y9 Confirmation candidates

• REPOSITORY Large selection of First Holy Communion cards, rosaries, prayer books, medals and many other items.

• May editions of Bible Alive and ‘My Day by Day’ are available.

• Some Planned Giving Envelopes still available from the back.

• Latest Magdala on sale.

NEXT SUNDAY is Ascension Day (not Thursday!)

We will be taking up our monthly School Building Fund collection after Masses


 This Tuesday our Toddler’s Group meets again 10 -12, annexe.

 This Thurs 6:30 pm 1st Communion Preparation will again be in the Church.

 This Saturday Rehearsal for children receiving Holy communion at a normal Sunday Mass in May, 11:00 am.

 This Saturday Non-baptised 11-16 yr olds (or those who have not received their 1st Holy Communion) are invited to a series of hour-long preparation classes starting this Saturday 2:30 pm.


 New servers’practices begin Tues 13thMay 5 pm,Sacristy–for 5 Tues.s(not 27th).

 Y5/Y6 Youth Club applications please wait to be contacted. As predicted have had to start a reserve list.

 Parish Concert with Patricia Rozario, Junior school etc: “The Quality of Mercy” Friday 6th June. Advance Tickets £8 including glass of wine. (On the door £15). See white ‘date for your diary’ leaflets at back.


Human Fertilisation & Embryology Bill- Mass lobby on 14th May at 12.30pm, Houses of Parliament, Emmanuel Centre, Marsham Street, SW1. Tube station is St James’s Park.

Catholic Deaf Awareness Week 11th -18th May. Deaf Awareness Day 15th May , Hinsley Rm, Morpeth Terrace, Victoria- for those who are interested in finding out more about the deaf community and take part in a guided reflection by Fr Paul Fletcher SJ.


Guild of Our Lady of Ransom -A Triduum 26th -28th May in Tyburn Convent at 6.00pm each evening for the intentions of all taking part.

The Annual Tyburn Pilgrimage- Sunday 4th May commencing with prayers in the churchyard of St Sepulchre opposite the Old Bailey & conclude at Tyburn Convent 6.00pm.

• The Pioneers Association will be selling tickets after all Masses on (19th/20th) for their Annual Social on 9th May in Dollis Hill. Tickets £4. All welcome.

11-15 YR OLDS: Mon 11th August - Thursday 14th August Parish trip to Faith Summer Break – This is a fruitful, well supervised time of fun (e.g.Games, Swimming sports & Chessington Theme Pk) and faith (e.g. Talks & Prayer) at Woldingham School, Surrey. Forms from Fr. Hugh.

15 -30 Yr OLDS FAITH SUMMER SESSION – Mon 4th August – Friday 8th August Quality talks in a holiday atmosphere at Woldingham School, Surrey. Fr Hugh is leading a group.


The UCM would like to thank all those who supported the cake sale last Sunday. £321.40 was raised towards our charities; Wednesday Club, Special Needs, Youth Club, Passage Centre, Rest Home, Tyburn Convent, NSPCC, HCPT.


The family of the late Peter McHugh thanks all who attended the funeral, sent Mass Cards & made donations to The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign. A Mass will be offered for you.

Today:
• The UCM are holding a cake sale after the morning Masses in aid of their charities

• Latest Planned Giving Envelopes still available from the back. N.B. if you are already Gift Aiding the amount we get back per pound you pay is about to go down to 25p from 28p given the reduction in the basic rate of tax. BUT the government have promised to refund charities the difference! If you don’t Gift Aid and pay tax please consider doing so. For no extra cost to you, we get 28p per pound back.

• Lilac Forms for our Y5/Y6 Youth Club are now available. Places are strictly limited – first come first served. Closing date Sunday 20th April. When full a reserve list will operate. The first meeting will be Thursday 15th May, 6 pm -7:30 pm, at the Infant Convent Chapel.

• Latest Magdala on sale.

• The Allen Hall Seminary Magazine. The Mulberry, is available at back, for free.

• Latest FAITH Magazine is available from newsletter rack, giving advice for teenagers concerning Pullman’s books and films, e.g. The Golden Compass, and proving the existence of the eternal, spiritual soul of each one of us human beings.


 Next Confirmation Meeting is this Monday April 14th, 7pm (with parents up to 7:45).

 NEXT PIA Group is this Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm. This will look at follow-ups to the excellent talk by the LIFE person last time. All welcome to this Pray, Inform, Act pro-life group. A good way of “Minding the Gap” we highlighted on the front of last week’s newsletter between Catholic belief about human life and that of our government and top medical charities etc.

 Y&/Y8 Club starts this Friday (18th).

 Confirmation Retreat Day this Saturday 10:30 – 4:30 pm

HOSPITAL ADMISSION: When admitted in Northwick Park, St Mark’s or Central Middlesex Hospitals inform the admission secretary or A/E Department that you would like the RC Chaplain to visit you. Your consent is needed in view of Data Protection Act 1998.
When already in the ward you can also request the hospital staff to bleep the Chaplain on duty.

Sainsbury’s Vouchers are now being distributed to shoppers. Please hand any you receive into clergy House and they will be taken to the schools. The cut off date for collection will be 23rd July 2008.

FAMILY FAST DAY Even more money has come in: £1194 will be delivered directly to helping the victims of the Rwandan earthquake at Ngwino Nawe (residential home for 27 disabled children), getting a good exchange rate.

Helen Leith of the German centre and our Thursday reflection group acknowledges your “kindness” and writes:

“I would like to thank you all very much indeed in the name of Therese Mukandaliyo (home mother) and residents. They are desperate for help and this sum of money will help them rebuild the centre which, at the last hearing, had been completely demolished bar one room, which is too unstable and damaged to be used.”

The Union of Catholic Mothers are having a Cake Sale on the 13th April in the Annexe after all the morning Masses. Proceeds will go towards our annual charity efforts.
