Week of 14th September 2008
At Today’s 9:00 am Mass James Bowles will be Baptized and Confirmed and Alex Bandini will be Confirmed. Please pray for them and their fiance’s who will be present. Please pray also for their catechists who have been preparing them for this day.

At Today’s 10:30 Mass children from Reception age upwards will be invited into the sacristy for their own Liturgy of the Word.

At back latest Day by Day, Bible Alive, Westminster Record and Faith magazine (new design).

UPCOMING SUNDAYS

Next weekend we will take up our annual retiring collection towards The Westminster Catholic Children’s Society. Their leader, Jim Richards, in the latest Westminster Record, says concerning the government’s Sexual Orientations Legislation which makes it illegal not to offer children for adoption by same-sex couples:
“we have no wish to usurp the will of Parliament there are plenty of other adoption agencies willing to assess same-sex couples. All we want to be able to do is to run our adoption services on the basis of what we know is best for children and in accordance with the teachings of the Church”.

On the front of this newsletter Martin Plunkett has written some words of goodbye and thanks. He has just started at Allen Hall. Should anyone like to offer a monetary gift we will take in any white envelopes for that purpose in two weeks time.

Sinhalese Mass – will take place here on Sun 28th September at 5.00pm.

There will be only a little music at the Sunday evening Mass during the month of September.

Calling PARENTS OF CHILDREN AT NON-CATHOLIC SCHOOLS aged seven
upwards who are hoping to receive First Holy communion in 2009. Please give details to one of the priests.

YOUTH CLUBS FOR YEARS FIVE TO EIGHT (ages 9 – 13) Our two Youth Clubs will start again this week. Year 5/Year 6 applicants should be contacted soon. Year 7/Year 8 applicants need to have a form lodged with Clergy House before attending for the first time.

The diary is now available in Clergy House for Mass bookings for 2009.

Bishop Douglass School – Open evening Thurs 18th Sept from 6.00pm to 9.00pm.

FIRE: You may be aware that the Pieta candle stand caught fire during last Sunday’s 12 noon Mass. This was due to candles being placed on top of other ones, rather than in their proper holders. It is of course crucial that the practice of piling up candles ceases. Please be vigilant. This might also be an opportunity for all to make sure they know where the nearest fire extinguisher is.
