SERVERS: The ten minute rule: We are very blessed to have over 70 excellent servers here at St Mary Magdalen’s. We are currently instituting regular practices. This year we are asking servers not to arrive after ten minutes before the Mass begins. This is because it disturbs the necessary careful and spiritual preparation for Mass. We do understand that there can sometimes be unavoidable reasons for arriving only shortly before Mass (and thus also failing to make one’s private prayers before Mass) but we just ask servers who so do to remain in the congregation for that Mass and not to serve, rather than coming into the sacristy with only a relatively few minutes to go.
Magdala, the parish magazine: Coming to an end? The publishing and sub-editorial company for our parish magazine Magdala will cease production this coming March. They are a unique company. So we are considering a different type of magazine. Any ideas please see Fr Hugh or Kathy MacKen.
