31st Sunday of the Year - 30th October 2011
Parish update

• Confirmation: will take place on Saturday 12th May 2012 at 12:00 noon. Applications forms are now available at the back of the Church- consists of 3 parts- application, letter to parents & programme dates. Applicants should be in Year 9 or above.


• First Holy Communion: 1st Holy Communion dates will be announced soon. Application forms and programme details will be ready shortly.



• Padre Pio –meet on Thursday 3rd November at 8pm for Mass, Rosary and prayers for the sick. All are very welcome.


• Church flowers: Flowers placed at our altars by parishioners are very welcome and are a wonderful sign of our devotion. Please note however that dried or imitation flowers are not permitted and will be removed as they contravene health and safety regulations in so far as they are a fire risk. It should also be noted that on occasion fresh flowers left in the Church may be incorporated into larger altar displays.

External Notices

Convent of Jesus and Mary Catholic Infant School & Nursery-the closing date for applications to Nursery and Reception for September 2012 is Friday January 13th 2012. Applications packs are available at the school office.

Join the seminary for a day: Saturday 26th November there will be a special day for men, aged 18+, who are discerning a possible calling to the priesthood. The day will be held at Allen Hall seminary and will include input from the seminary Rector, Mgr Mark O’Toole, as well as time for prayer and a chance to join the seminary community. St Mary’s Cemetery, Kensal Green-there will be Mass in St Mary’s Cemetery Chapel on Wednesday 2nd November at 12 noon. Also the Bi-Annual Concelebrated Requiem Mass will be on Monday 7th November at 11.30am.

Parish update

• Cricklewood Homeless: monthly collection of non perishable food stuffs after all masses next weekend.

• Union of Catholic Mothers: thanks to all who supported the Coffee morning in aid of MacMillan Cancer Care - £350 was raised for this worthy charity.

The 4th Annual Fr. Simon Golf Cup: will take place on Sunday 6th November at Thorney Park Golf Club in Iver. Proceeds from this event will go to Our Lady’s Stay & Play, a playgroup serving the local community.

There will be a meeting for all extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, including spiritual formation, on Saturday 19th November at 2:00-3:30pm. These ministers will then be re-commissioned at their ‘normal’ Masses the following day (Sunday 20th Nov) – the feast of Christ the King. Please put these dates in your diaries now.


• Notice to all Readers. There will be a meeting for all readers, including spiritual formation on Saturday 3rd December at 2:00-3:30pm. These readers will be re-commissioned at their ‘normal’ Masses the following day (Sunday 4th Dec), the second Sunday of Advent, also called ‘Bible Sunday’. Please put these dates in your diaries now.


The late Paddy Casey RIP – Maureen and family would like to thank their friends and former neighbours from St Mary Magdalens for their prayers, sympathy and support following Paddy’s death – may he rest in peace.

Parish update

• Month of October: This month is dedicated to the holy rosary, one of the best known of all Catholic devotions. October includes the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7). The best way to celebrate the month is, of course, to pray the rosary.


• Confirmation: We have been told by the bishop that Confirmation will take place on Saturday 12th May 2012 at 12:00 noon. This is earlier than in previous years. Application forms and a detailed programme will be ready by late October, but we can already tell you that parent/candidate interviews will take place on Saturday 26th November and there will be a parents evening on Monday 12th December. The preparation program will start on Monday 9th January.


• First Holy Communion: Now we have been given the Confirmation date, we can set the 1st Holy Communion dates, which will be announced soon. Application forms and programme details will be ready by late October.
